Just because the kids are in school still (year round) doesn't mean we can't do fun summer things on the weekends right? Well it's finally warm to go camping so we reserved a spot a couple of months ago at Affleck Park up Parley's and they just let us know earlier last week that the road is still closed with snow. Uggh! We decided to go up Big Cottonwood Canyon to "The Spruces" campground early Friday morning to see if we could get a first come first serve spot (we needed two of them together because we went with friends) and we were lucky because we got some great spots that had a ton of room for the kids to explore and run around. After we got the spots we went home to pack and bring back the family after school was out for the day.

| Frank said he would take some kids for a walk, after seven of them wanted to go, I decided to join him. |

| The first morning we got up it was really cold (the night went to the low 40's) |

| We headed to Silver Lake and tried to fish. There was still snow all over the board walk and they hadn't stocked the lake yet for the season. No one caught anything (although all the kids sure like to try)- it was a bit noisy as you can imagine. |

Jackson was about to do it, but I'm glad Kelly quickly took back his offer and said he wouldn't. We would have had a sick little boy on our hands for sure. |

It also just happened to be my birthday weekend and it was so fun to spend the whole weekend without Frank at work and the kids home (although by the end I was kind of done with over-tired, dirty kids).

How fun! I'm jealous of how much you go camping with friends! We've done it once and it was a blast! I'm glad you were able to find spots and emjoy yourselves.
Fun! Silver Lake is beautiful. We are planning a camping trip to Strawberry Reservoir during our upcoming Utah trip. Maybe we should head to Silver Lake instead.

Looks like so much fun! I might have to talk Marty into going up to the Spruces. It looks so nice. Plus, we always love to visit Silver Lake.
